La Cruz de Huanacaxtle

Cruz de Huanacaxtle is located in Banderas Bay, in the region known worldwide as the Riviera Nayarit. Named in 1997 as one of the "27 most beautiful bays in the world" due in large to its history and culture, natural attractions (flora, fauna and biodiversity), among others.

La Cruz offers a cool climate year round, making your vacation more attractive. Every year, at the beginning of the winter season (end of November), gray whales migrate into the bay to mate and raise their calves. Likewise, the Bay of Banderas is a natural sanctuary for four types of sea turtles and numerous exotic birds.

Throughout the year, local fishermen encounter various marine species. Among the favorite and most common are: mahi mahi, red snapper, sailfish, tuna, swordfish and marlin.

La Cruz is a favorite destination internationally. During the winter, dozens of sailboats from around the world, choose La Cruz de Huanacaxtle as their haven of rest.

Nearby are some of Riviera Nayarit's best beaches: Destiladeras, Punta de Mita, Careyes and La Manzanilla, known for its soft seas and colorful palapa restaurants.
